Brooklyn Artist Wedding on Film / Catskill, NY

February 13, 2025

Tim & Leonie first contacted me for their beautiful, intimate wedding nesteld in a small Catskills town called Craryville, NY with a vision for a laid back and fun day. Leonie is German and an actress while Tim is a musician. Although they live in Brooklyn, they decided to have their wedding in the backyard of their friend’s colorful and soulful restaurant, Zinnia’s Dinette. Leonie shared that Tim’s band teacher from high school would play jazz during cocktail hour and they wanted dinner and dancing under the stars. It was a hot July day, and with the sun beating down, when the rain came unexpectedly, it was more of a relief than anything. The rain helped the sun feel not so hot, and as the day rolled on, the air thickened and humidity set in. There was literally nothing that could stop this group from partying and having the time of their lives. Based on the fact that Tim& Leonie are both artists, they were so excited to have me capture the entire day on film (that’s right, not a single digital photo is in their collection!) They love the idea of analogue everything, which is why they chose a DJ who plays records. They also were completely on board with me approaching this day from a very documentary heavy place–so we only did posed photos for about 10 minutes and the family photos were another 10 minues. Everything else was simply observed and captured. It was such a memorable day that I feel so lucky to have been chosen to document.

The in-between, storytelling images that give the big picture of your wedding day are so important to me in my mission to create images that appreciate with time. I love getting to know my couples and their intricate relationships as well as writing my highlights from their unique day to supplement their photos. Here are some of the weddings I've been lucky enough to document as well as some words about what made their day so memorable for me.
